Blast from the Past

6 degrees of separation shrank to 3 when reconencting with an old friend this weekend. One of my aunts received a yearly Christmas card last year from one of her childhood friends. It just so happens that this friend is the mother of one of my college friends who I had lost touch with over the years. The card stated that my friend lives in Germany in a town only about 4 hours away. After exchanging some contact information through my aunt and her mom, Robyn and I finally caught up by telephone and decided that we should get together.
For memorial weekend, Robyn and her husband, Paul, and their daughters came to stay with us. We enjoyed sight-seeing in both Brussels & Bruges during the day and then relearning to play spades and nertz in the evening. Their girls taught us some fun children’s games, and we introduced them to “Cat in the Hat” (which they couldn’t get enough of). Naturally, Robyn and I strolled down memory lane from our time at Texas Tech, and we caught each other up on various friends’ lives. All thanks to a Christmas card!
