Hau`oli la hanau

Aloha!  That was the greeting I heard over and over the weekend of my birthday.  Ken and I flew to Honolulu where we spent a long weekend full of fun and celebration.  We tasted our way through the Dole pineapple plantation and wound our way through the only royal palace in the United States.  We took in multiple shows and demonstrations at the Polynesian Cultural Center along with a luau and finals of the World Fire Knife competition.  Our tour of Pearl Harbor stirred our hearts and left us touched as we saw the remains of the USS Arizona and heard stories of those who lived through the tragic day.  Walks along the beach and leisure time in our 2 story suite rounded out our stay.  A bonus came during an evening sunset at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel (home of the famous Mai Tai).  One of my friends from LA happened to be in Hawaii at the same time and joined us to toast each other’s birthday over this famous drink (her birthday was a few days before mine).  Mahalo to Hawaii and my sweetheart, Ken, for giving me such a memorable birthday!
