About 14 years ago, a young freshman in high school plopped into my life with all of the trials, joys and dramas that fill the life of a teenager which she poured out to me in a theater dressing room. We were both cast in “Funny Girl” at the Erie Playhouse where our backstage talks developed a friendship that would continue despite time or distance. I have had that privilege of watching this lovely girl graduate, go to college, land her first job, find the love of her life and grow into a beautiful woman. Naturally, when she called to tell me that she was engaged and wanted me to be part of her special day, I said yes without hesitation and felt so honored to share in the celebration.
Adding to
the festive weekend, we stayed with our best friends from our years living in
Erie. They visited us in Brussels a few
years ago, but we haven’t had the chance to see them since. Needless to say, we enjoyed catching up with
them and getting to know their kiddos who were quite young when we moved from
Erie. We also took a walk through our
old neighborhood where we admired the charming house that we called home for
almost 7 years. And a trip to Erie
wouldn’t be complete without skipping rocks on Lake Erie at our favorite beach
location along Presque Isle. This all made for a fantastic weekend of reliving memories while making new ones at the same time.
