Evolving Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving week welcomed us into the South American country of Ecuador and its famous Galapagos Islands.  Landing in the capital of Quito, we spent a few days taking in its lovely architecture, friendly people, colorful markets, and of course, its main highlight, the Mitad del Mundo (middle of the world) where we straddled the equator line.

We then boarded a plane for the islands made famous by Charles Darwin.  600 miles off the mainland, these remote islands provide a home for some fascinating creatures.  Taking in all of the wildlife both on land and in water through hiking, kayaking and snorkeling, we managed to see many of the top attractions including sea lions, giant tortoises, iguanas, penguins, booby birds, and hammerhead sharks.  Needless to say, it felt like quite an adventure, and we left more "evolved" in our thinking.
