Holiday Cruise

Our holiday cruise through the western Mediterranean brought us much excited anticipation during the past year as we read about the various stops on the itinerary, planned our adventures and imagined what 2½ weeks on a ship full of Brits celebrating Christmas and New Years would look like. We were not disappointed. The ship's halls and common rooms captured the Christmas spirit with beautiful garland and festive decorations around every corner. Traditions of Britain and Scotland came in abundance as we ate customary puddings and popped the gift filled crackers on Christmas, learned the typical Scottish New Year’s Eve dances, and experienced the time honored tradition of parading the haggis (hodge-podge dish containing parts of a sheep…I won’t gross you with the details) for which a bag pipe player was specifically flown in to lead as well as to play Auld Lang Syne at midnight. We enjoyed our table mates during the duration of the trip as well as those with whom we toured or spent our evenings dancing on the ballroom floor, and of course, we loved dressing to the nines for dinner. We definitely see ourselves making this type of trip again in the future!
