Many children started back to school today while parents excitedly took first day pictures or anxiously waved goodbye to their children. In some ways, I also felt like the proud parent sending my child off for his first day back, only my darling had to go back to work. After weeks of vacation, shoulder surgery, and a bit of recovery, I helped Ken dress, put his arm in his sling, and make it out the door to begin a new project. Because his surgery required removal of cartilage, reattachment of a tendon, and some basic shoulder clean-up, Ken cannot lift anything heavier than a coffee cup for 6 weeks. Needless to say, we felt a huge relief when a project in Dallas landed in his lap allowing Ken to work while continuing his physical therapy rehab in the Texas, an aspect of his recovery that we appreciate receiving in the US. And like all eager parents waiting for the end of the day report from their sweeties, I breathed a sigh of relief that Ken’s day went well and without much pain.

Ken over-dramatizing his injuries with a head bandage while Skyping our nephews the day after surgery.
