“No matter where in Europe I am working, I always make it home to Brussels on the weekend.” Ken told this to some of our dearest friends from Erie as they made plans to come see us during their trip to Europe. Usually this statement is true or at least fairly easy to make happen. However, Ken said this about 9 months ago, long before we knew that his current project would take him to the US, not Europe. Since visiting us was one of the highlights on our friends’ trip list and they had tried to work their trip around our schedule, we felt honored to make the trek back to Belgium and play host to them for a few days. Although we had not seen them in over 5 years, we picked up as if we had seen them yesterday and had a ball showing them Brussels’ Grand Place, Bruges’ charming canals, and Belgium’s treats of waffles, chocolate, tapestries, and lace. We feel so blessed to have friendships that neither time nor distance tarnish as well as cherished memories with these dear ones.

Looks like a fun time, especially in Bruges.
Yes, I did say that (always can come back to Brussels!)
