Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?

In the city of Romeo and Juliet’s young, impassioned love, Ken and I took part in another romantic story. Set in the heart of northern Italy, this touching tale concluded with a much more “happily ever after” ending. Despite hailing from rival countries, friends of ours, a British lass and a Frenchman, married in the city of Verona where they had originally met years ago.
The celebrations consisted of the traditional “hen” party for the girls and bachelor party for the guys as well as other festive events. Because of the diverse cultural mix of the guests (our reception table included Brits, an Italian, a Norwegian, a German and us Texans), the ceremony was performed in English, French and Italian which allowed us to move beyond our spaghetti and croissant vocabulary.
Since the happy couple chose to keep the guest list small, we found it easy to get to know everyone and even made several new friends. We felt honored that the bride and groom wanted us to share in their special occasion while frolicking in the city of lovers.
