Naturally,
the top spot on everyone’s must see list, the San Diego Zoo, made our trip as
well. Believe it or not, the snake house
with its venomous serpents took the highlight position of all of the animals we
saw followed closely by a giant gorilla who decided to “moon” us with her
enormous behind as she squatted to urinate.
The Maritime Museum surprised us with its extensiveness as well as its
exploratory amusement across 6 different boats and submarines.
Our favorite
location, though, came as we toured Old Town San Diego. The Whaley House, considered the most haunted
house in America, sits proudly on the streets of Old Town San Diego and tells chilling
stories of tragic deaths and troubled spirits.
Although we didn’t see anything, we did have a couple of eerie
moments. We also popped into a fun
little museum on the history of Wells Fargo’s wild west banking and its
challenges.
Topping off
this festive trip, upon check in to the hotel, the desk clerk offered us an
upgrade to the presidential suite which consisted of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a
kitchen and dining area, living room, and 3 balconies overlooking the
marina. Needless to say, we struggled
with whether we should even leave the room once we arrived. San Diego definitely took us by surprise with
how much we enjoyed it, and we long to return soon, even if it's to celebrate an unbirthday.
