Merry Memories

Christmas decorations came down this week leaving us with a less festive home but many happy memories.  After years without a tree, garland or stockings, we filled our house with adornments and trimmings.  Excited about the holly, jolly feeling of our home, we hosted a couple of events for friends to share the merriment over a cup of spiced cider.
As Christmas has become a wonderful get-away opportunity, we took advantage of the time to experience our first tropical holiday by soaking up the sun in Kauai.  Our time there included a helicopter tour to see the varying landscapes, fun on the beach along side the crashing waves, golf for Ken on a highly recognized ocean view course, prime seats on our balcony to watch playful humpback whales, and activities related to the main purpose of the trip…Christmas.  In order to enhance the feel of our condo, we took stockings, a miniature tree decked with ornaments, and other small decorations.  We packed presents to surround the tree as well as a Christmas trivia game.  Listening to carols, reading the Christmas story from the Bible and watching "It's a Wonderful Life" created the perfect Christmas Eve.  We left feeling energized and rested while having enjoyed a truly unique Christmas.
