Finding Nemo

Because Ken had a long Easter break, we spent the holiday on an island along the Great Barrier Reef in Australia where Ken is currently working. Flying in by helicopter really gave us a birds eye view of the adventures that awaited us on land and in the water.

We enjoyed early morning walks along the sandy beach while catching the sun rise and glisten across the waves of the ocean. Not to leave out the opposite view, our evening routine consisted of lying on the beach as the sun slowly sunk below the horizon and the first stars began to twinkle in the sky. The Milky Way looked magnificent splashed across its vast, dark backdrop.

We spent time snorkeling and diving which gave us fun opportunities to see the reef's sea life up close. I smiled numerous times thinking of Disney's "Finding Nemo" as we made our way past sea anemones and schools of vibrant colored fish. We even managed to swim along with a sea turtle, that is until he decided to sit on the ocean floor for a meal of seaweed, who looked just like "Crush" from the movie. I will never watch "Nemo" without fondly thinking back to our wonderful Great Barrier Reef retreat.
